Could Coronavirus affect your ability to maintain your mortgage payments?

If you are concerned or anxious about not being able to afford your mortgage due to the current situation you should call your lender.

The government is putting policies in place to help homeowners by offering 3 month payment “holidays”. This can help ease the financial strain if your income has suffered but please be aware that this is not a freebie, your payments will be deferred or rolled up into your mortgage debt. Also, you will not automatically qualify for this help.

You will need to contact your lender in advance that any payment holiday wouldn’t class as a missed mortgage payment as otherwise this could be marked on your credit file. A missed mortgage payment will affect future mortgage approval

We have listed some contact numbers for the lenders.
